Dressed in a red and white silk business suit, MARCO ST JOHN approached the podium set up in the foyer of City Hall to address a news conference. A 40-year-old Italian American businessman who moved to Hattersville months earlier from New York, St John had created a lot of wealth for some people in Hattersville through the many businesses he owned and he donated generously to many charities.But after his arrival, there was a rise in crime in some parts of town. Most recent being the exposure and shutting down of a sex slave ring.

While Chief RAYMOND GARCIA and the Hattersville Police Department took official credit for solving that crime, the women who were freed credited the town new crime fighting sensation LADY BEAR for saving them.She was likened to the town's famous superheroine of the 1970's BEAR WOMAN, and had become very popular with some residents of Hattersville.
St John, secretly a crime kingpin with the Italian Mafia, wanted the 8ft Ebony Amazon to be stopped from exposing his real agenda in Hattersville.

Officially, he wanted attention to be focused on his benevolent deeds and not on Lady Bear's heroic exploits. Hence the reason for the news conference.

When the news conference was over, St John had stern words for the mayor and police chief in private. " I want work to start immediately.
