"You're lying."

"Am I? You have been Super San for what,four years? Five? In that time, have you ever wondered why your precious Chrysanthemum Bureau allows me to operate? Why they feed you targets like scraps to a faithful dog?"

"They need me, heroine. They need the chaos I provide, the threat that justifies their budgets, their secrecy, their power over frightened politicians. You are not their weapon. You are their advertisement."

Then canisters rolled from shadowed corners she hadn't observed...six, eight, a dozen...small metal cylinders , their release pins already pulled. They hissed before she could react, vomiting yellow-green clouds that hugged the floor, climbing her boots, caressing her calves through the bodysuit's thin fabric.

Super San staggered. The chemical smell hit her like a physical blow, something engineered specifically for her physiology, for the cellular machinery that granted her strength. Her fists loosened. The warehouse tilted, it's fluorescent tubes becoming streaks of sickly light.
