Briggs fights like a human battering ram. Elara moves like a ghost. Gideon fires controlled bursts.
Blaise keeps the download running.
In the midst of the firefight, a metallic cylinder skittered across the polished floor, coming to a sudden halt right at the boots of Blaise. A blinding, incandescent white light exploded, accompanied by a deafening crack that felt like a physical blow to the skull.
She tries to stand but collapses...
Gideon catches her before she hits the floor.
"Stay with me. Blaise. Stay with me." Said Gideon.
