| Post subject: | Why not organize our own adult comic convention? |
I was reading of a group of web comic authors who organized and centered on one of their authors who also had experience with organizing small conventions. Using the common studio space that several of the artists rented, they held a two day gathering. The profits were made from selling their artwork. No admission was charged, but the access was limited to those who e-mailed for passes. So, I was wondering about the following questions. Could we find enough adult artists and web based retailers such as HIPComix that could agree on a city and date to hold such a similar gathering? Could we promote such a gathering effectively via the HIP website? Who all could we invite to a gathering like this? As for a reasonable sized meeting room, we could charge a minimum fee, say $15 per person. And what would we be selling? Limited edition signed prints of our various characters? CDs and DVDs of our projects? Just wondering if anyone would like to mull over the variables and set the ball in motion. |
