The heart of the gambit lay within the subterranean depths of Draavos’ private data vault. Blaise moved through the corridors alone, a shadow merging with the darkness. She bypassed the initial security perimeter with surgical precision, neutralizing the biometric scanners and slipping through the laser grid with a series of calculated, acrobatic contortions.
Armed guards patrolled the periphery, their boots echoing on the polished concrete, but Blaise was a ghost in the machine, invisible and lethal.
Inside the vault, the air was chilled to preserve the massive server banks. Blaise interfaced her deck with the primary terminal, her fingers flying across the keys as she bypassed the final firewalls. The data began to stream: clandestine shipping routes, dossiers of political blackmail, cutting-edge glyph-core research, and a classified registry of sleeper agents.
Blaise’s eyes widened as she scrolled through the strategic projections. “My god,” she whispered, her voice trembling with the weight of the discovery. “He’s not just expanding. He’s planning a total takeover of the entire Pacific rim.”
She initiated a full-system mirror, copying every byte of the empire's secrets.
“You’re predictable, Blaise.”
The voice was smooth, cold, and far too close. Blaise spun around. Elena Marković stood in the doorway, her silhouette framed by the harsh fluorescent lights of the hall, a handgun leveled at Blaise’s chest.
