The heroine, concealed in her diminutive state, waited unnoticed within the darkness, poised to reveal her immense strength.
The lasers struck her chest in a coordinated pattern she hadn't anticipated. Red beams lanced from maintenance panels, from advertisement screens, from the very infrastructure of the platform itself. The Chrysanthemum Bureau's intelligence had mentioned Mori's technical capabilities, but not thisnever this sophistication. Each beam found the red circle, the symbolic target, and her body responded with terrible obedience.
She grew. Not her choice. Not her control. The expansion ripped through her like fever, her limbs extending, her perspective distorting, the platform suddenly fragile beneath her swelling mass. She tried to shrink, to fight the invasion of her own power, but the lasers pulsed in frequencies that jammed her body's response.
Then, as suddenly, they stopped. She collapsed to normal size, her nervous system scrambled, her consciousness flickering like a damaged bulb. The concrete rushed up to meet her. Her cheek struck the platform's rough surface. Through slitted eyes, she watched leather shoes approach, their polish reflecting the arriving train's light.
"Super San. I offered you the gift of ignorance. A chance to look away from my family's affairs, to chase lesser criminals while we built our future. You refused."
"The lasers, you see, do more than disrupt your size-changing ability. They stimulate certain... pleasure centers. A side effect we discovered quite accidentally. Your body will respond to stimulation with exaggerated sensitivity. You will feel everything. Enjoy everything. And remember everything."
"Teach her respect! All of you! I want her to understand the cost of interference."
"Now you pay the price of curiosity... chain her! And remove that ridiculous costume. I want to see what the mighty Super San truly is beneath the propaganda."
Kazuo Mori's voice carried the weight of inherited cruelty, the refinement of a man who had studied violence as other men studied poetry. He turned to his men, their faces eager in the dim light.
