The situation in China was increasingly complicated. Japan was advancing through its lands, as a great military power in without having any difficulties in dominating that region.

The growing power of the Japanese in the Far East...and its alliance with the Axis nations of Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy were of great concern to Great Britain.

Only recently a Nazi operation in India was stopped. Had it succeeded it would have given Germany an important base in the Far East to join forces with the Japanese.

Great Britain, even with its concern about fighting the Germans in Europe, knew that Japan was a powerful ally of the Nazis and its military successes meant its actions had to be closely monitored.

It was for this reason, British Military Intelligence had chosen to send one of its best field agents, Corporal Lara Havenloft, to investigate the military activities of the Japanese in China.

Her successful missions against the Nazis in France and India made her the best choice for this mission.

For reasons that could not be explained...the famous British superheroine...Lady Britannia appeared on both missions and played key roles in their successful outcomes.

Lara sat in the passenger cabin of a plan that was flying towards a secret location in China...where the Chinese Army had a base.
With many of its major cities occupied by Japanese troops...the Chinese Army shifted their operations to the vast countryside which they knew well and where they could engage in guerilla warfare against the Japanese invaders.

A 23 year old brunette who wore her curly brown hair in a bun...wearing a baggy brown military uniform...Lara attracted little attention to herself as she read a file sent to British Military Intelligence in London about the situation in China.
She often smiled to herself about this fact because no one in British Military Intelligence suspected that the reason why Lady Britannia appeared to help her succeed in her missions...was because she was the Busty British Bombshell...thanks to the magic contained in the gold crown of the ancient warrior queen of Britain...Boudicca.

Lara was intrigued that the file spoke about some of the few victories that the Chinese had against the Japanese involved a local super heroine called Kung Fu Woman. She had rescued a Chinese general who had been captured by Japanese soldiers...defeated other Japanese soldiers and destroyed Japanese military equipment. But there was very little information about this heroine.

This made Lara remember her recent adventure to India and her encounter with that country's superheroine...the Tigress of India.
She remembered that mission was particularly dangerous because of the misunderstanding she and Tigress had over the handsome British Military Intelligence Officer...Major Gavin Stewart...who the Tigress was infatuated with. The plane landed on a clandestine runway in the countryside.
As Lara got off the plane, she was met by a 24 year old Chinese woman with long black hair, dressed in a dark green uniform of the Chinese Army and two male Chinese soldiers who were similarly attired. Three stripes on her sleeves identified her as a sergeant.

"Corporal Havenloft. I'm Sgt Weng Li. Welcome to China" said Weng as she and Lara saluted each other and shook hands.
Lara found herself impressed by how well-groomed Weng Li was and her excellent English.

Weng escorted Lara to a cabin located close to the airstrip. Inside the cabin, Lara saw a bulletin board with a series of notes on it and a pair of beds. "It isn't much but it's the best that high command could arrange to use as a base while you're here" said Weng. "That's all right. I've worked in conditions like this before. The important thing is the success of the mission" replied Lara.
Weng smiled in agreement and shared with Lara, the information which the Chinese Army had on Japanese military operations in China.

"The Japanese have sabotaged several of the Chinese' Army's plans to repel them. But not using regular troops" said Weng Li.
"Then who?" asked Lara.

Weng responded by showing Lara a photos of a strong woman with long hair in what appeared to be centuries old body armor.
"They're using ninjas against us" said Weng.

"Ninjas? But aren't they Japanese folklore?" asked Lara.

"No. I assure you they are very real and she isn't the only one here in China" replied Weng as she showed photos of other ninjas leading Japanese soldiers on raids against the Chinese Army.

Lara nodded in response. After having experienced the ancient evil magic of the Mahar...the Tigress' arch enemy...when she was in India days earlier...Lara had come to accept there were evil forces in the world she would have to face as Lady Britannia and they could not be explained by science or the norms of the Western world.

"I read about a Chinese superheroine...Kung Fu Woman. Is there any way we can contact her? Maybe she can help us against these ninjas" said Lara.
She noticed Weng Li was silent and thoughtful for a minute before responding.

"We're grateful for her help. She is a patriot. But no one knows who she is or how to contact her. Somehow, she always appears when she's needed most to protect the innocent people of China" said Weng.

"Kung Fu Woman has defeated the Japanese soldiers many times but whenever she's captured one of the ninjas helping them, the ninjas kill themselves by ingesting poison capsules. All she's been able to find out is that the ninjas working with the Japanese soldiers are called the Shadows of Fuma" added Weng.

While they were speaking, Lara felt her nipples stiffen under her shirt, alerting her to imminent danger. "I've got to change into Lady Britannia to deal with it but how?" she wondered, realising she would reveal her identity to Weng Li.
But Lara was surprised when Weng drew her pistol and fired a couple shots at the ceiling of the cabin they were in. Lara drew her pistol and fired in the same direction as well. Exiting the cabin, Lara and Weng saw two ninjas lying dead on the roof while a third fled into the nearby forests, clearly wounded.

"The Japanese are aware of your presence Lara. We'll have to take extra precautions now" said Weng.
"That's not a problem Weng. I'm used to complex challenges on my missions. It makes them fun" replied Lara with a smile.
Weng nodded in agreement, as she felt herself liking her British counterpart more and more.

Unknown location

At the hideout of the Shadows of Fuma ninjas, a strong Japanese woman was sitting on a throne that belonged to ancient Chinese emperors. On her right was a smaller ninja woman with black clothes covering most of her body and part of her face. On her left was a man with much heavier blue clothes looking like armor.
They watched the surviving ninja come before them and relay the information he had for the strong woman on the throne...leader of the Shadows of Fuma...Kotaro Fuma.

This pleased the Emperor of Japan who enlisted her and her ninjas to aid in the Japanese invasion of China.

The man on her left was Takeo Shikarawa. The woman on Kotaro's right was his sister Kiwa Shirakawa. They were the clan leader's trusted deputies.
"Speak!" ordered Kotaro. The ninja told the clan leader about the arrival of a female British agent in China and she would be working with the Chinese Army to stop the Japanese invasion.

"This British woman will have to be eliminated. Kiwa. Can I trust you with this mission?" asked Kotaro.
"Yes Great Leader. I have never failed and I will not fail you" replied Kiwa.

1 day later

Corporal Lara Havenloft and Sergeant Weng Li were walking along a trail through the forest to rendezvous with a platoon if Chinese soldiers that Weng had radioed her generals to send to help them.
"The Japanese know you're here and will send their ninjas to eliminate you. But we can gain the advantage by luring them to a location and ambushing them!" said Weng.

"It's a good plan! We just need to capture one ninja and find out from him what the Japanese are planning" replied Lara.
As the two women neared the rendezvous point, they heard a series of explosions followed by gunfire.
"The Japanese have discovered our trap! We need to get back to our camp!"said Weng. Lara nodded in agreement and they ran back through the forest.
On the way...a ninja leapt from a tree and tackled Weng Li to the ground.
"Run Lara!! Run!!" cried Weng as she grappled with the ninja.
"I'll send help!" cried Lara as she kept on running. She knew she had to find a remote place in the forest to take the gold crown of Boudicca out of her pouch and put it on to become Lady Britannia and save her friend Weng Li.
