"You think it could have anything to do with those criminals who were involved in the illegal mining in the outback?" asked April. Steve looked at the young woman in a mixture of awe and respect.

"Wow...You're very perceptive April...I've been thinking that same thought..but the evidence against those men was so flimsy...that the court had no choice but to release them" Steve replied as he brought something else to the attention of his female friend. April followed his gaze..and noticed some men in tuxedos at strategic places inside the ballroom and also walking along the grounds outside of the mansion. The bulges under their jackets showed they were too well armed for such an occasion.

"Mayor Hobart is concerned about something..He'd never resort to hiring this much private security...if he wasn't" said Steve as April looked at him again. "I think you're right Steve...From what I've heard...Those men aren't smart enough to organise any big operation in the outback...They'd need a lot of powerful friends..." said April to Steve who was impressed by her reasoning. "Why don't we take a walk in the garden Mr Hewitt?" asked Alexandra Hobart as she abruptly grabbed Steve by his left arm and dragged the surprised police officer out the doors of the mansion. "Steve..." said April as the handsome police lieutennant was taken away from her...only for Mayor Hobart to lead her off in a different direction. However as the Mayor kept her delayed in a long, boring story of how he came to acquire these artifacts...April could not help but feel a growing concern for Steve Hewitt...who was in the company of the Mayor's flirtatious daughter. Her instincts as Kangaroo Woman were telling her that something was amiss at the Hobart estate and she needed to get to Steve. As Hobart bragged about his artifacts..how much he spent to acquire them..and how he acquired them..a crowd of his wealthy guests gathered around him to hear his tall tales.

This gave April the opportunity to slip away from the Mayor and make her way out into the lush garden which surrounded his estate.
