April Denvers had just returned with a small group of tourists who she had taken for a short trip to the Uluru National Park. Steve Hewitt was working late in his office at the police station in Alice Springs. Like April..there was something about the case of illegal mining in the Uluru National Park which bothered him...even though the case was officially closed with the miners having been arrested and charged for their crimes. The police lieutennant had found himself going over the case files several times in the last few days..but still couldn't shake the feeling that he was missing something.

"These men have criminal records..but filled with minor offenses...None of them have the skills or the resources..to pull off the kind of operation which they were trying to do in the bush...There's got to be something more to this...Somebody's supporting them..guiding their actions..but who...?" wondered Steve aloud. "Perhaps I can answer that question...Lieutennant..." a sultry female voice said from the doorway to his office. Steve Hewitt looked up from behind the mountains of paper which covered the surface of his desk...in the direction that the voice came from.

Out of the corner of his left eye...Steve saw a female silhouette in the doorway and a flash of metal in the darkness ..which he thought meant the mysterious figure had a gun. His military and police training kicked in immediately as he got to his feet..simultaneously drawing his pistol from his left shoulder holster with his right hand. Unfortunately for Steve Hewitt..he was not fast enough and the female figure fired first.

Steve felt something explode against the middle of his chest..just as he got his gun out..and within the space of one second..his upper torso was engulfed in a thick cloud of greenish gas. His senses were thrown out of orbit...the world spun rapidly before his eyes..and darkness washed over him. "Uhhhhh" groaned Steve Hewitt as he collapsed face down to the floor..losing consciousness in one second. The female mercenary code named Hunter walked towards the unconscious police lieutennant and smiled. "Now I have the bait to catch a kangaroo.." thought Hunter to herself.
