You mean back when MTV used to show videos for more and an hour a day? I remember those days as well...

I gave up on MTV a long time ago! I was refering to the actual quality of the music, lots of music videos from the 80s are pretty cheesy but the actual songs themselves have great singing and real proper effort went into the use of instruments.

We dont seem to get many true quality music artists these days.....only horrible and talentless noise pollution that spurns from reality TV shows.

I wonder if with the internet, will it be easier for start-up bands to promote themselves by having their own site...they won't have to rely on a record company..?

I supposed what would be needed is a popular person/critic to have their own site and scour the net for new bands and promote those bands on the critic's home site...

I agree though about today's music...although I'm 40+ which may have something to do with it :P

I didn't like the early 90's Nirvana grunge fad and a lot of the 2005/2006 rock to me seems like kids who are trying to mix Metallica with Rap and to me it sounds like human sacrifice music...no melody, just sounds like someone playing a blender at different speeds and in the background a broken vacuum cleaner droning around.

But then, I was a kid in the late 70's early eighties who loved punk rock and I'm sure some would think that's not music :P
