 HIPComix receives another nice review
We have received another nice review from a great website called "Monica's Reviews" ( http://www.monicasreviews.com). Here it is: Written by: Gillian
The Sparkle: Tour
Hipcomix is all about Heroines in Peril. They like bondage and boobs, from what I can see upfront. The cartoons are made using computer generated 3D models, rather than traditional “drawings.” They are static images – like a comic book, not a cartoon movie. They promise to update 4.25 times per week. There are 6 regular artists, and 8 special guest artists. At Hipcomix, they “recommend that your screen be at least 1024 X 768 for maximum viewing pleasure.”
The Free area on this site is very generous – 6 large galleries. There are covers galleries for this year and last, preview galleries for this year and last, an archive gallery, and a guest artists’ gallery.
The Decor: Layout
The terminology they use on this site is kind of confusing. On the main page after you log in, you will see 14 different “albums,” each featuring work by a particular artist. Clicking on one of these albums will take you to a group of more albums. Each of these albums is an issue of a comic book. You can click on each page to enlarge it, to better view the pictures and read the text.
On the left hand side of the screen there is a search bar, a link to RSS feeds, View the Latest Updates, View Slideshow, and View Slideshow (fullscreen). Below that is a Random Image generator, which shows clickable random images from the site.
The Gold: Content
The most remarkable thing about this site is its size. It is simply huge. Just like the classic comics, these comix are action packed, with plenty of comic relief. But if you like superheroines in peril, tied up and abused, then these are the comics you want. There is lavish attention paid to intricate torture devices, and evil plots galore. The plot lines range from classic bad guy vs, superheroine, to supernatural, to pirates, to space travel, to split personalities… and some are extremely well developed. While not every tale held my attention, many did. And not just for the plot.
There are two ways to view the comix – either by clicking on each image, or as a slideshow. The slideshow runs very smoothly, and you can really customize your experience: how long to delay between image changes, the direction of play (forward, reverse, or random), the max size of the images (6 choices, from 320 x 320 to 1280 x 1280, or no limit), and how to fade the images as they change (16 choices, including blend, pinwheel, rain, etc.).
The images are very sharp and clear, of course, and some artists’ work is amazingly detailed – you can count the freckles on Pink Pussycat’s nose… and other parts. Of course some stories are better than others, and most are serialized, with new “issues” continuing the story as the updates are published. Some stories are longer than others, some are more action than sex, and some are more sex than action - but all feature the requisite blondes, boobs, and bondage.
The Bling: Extras
Clicking on Links (found at the very bottom of any page) will take you to a page of ads for like-minded websites.
The Price: $$$
$5.99 for 3 days trial, then $16.99 recurring every 30 days $19.95 for 30 days, then $16.99 recurring every 30 days $69.99 for 180 days, then $39.99 recurring every 90 day
The Rating: 8/10
The navigation needs some work, but there’s lots to explore. Many thanks to "Monica's Reviews" for the nice article!
